Remembering a deeply respected colleague whose life and work were inseparable from clinical research.
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our colleague and friend, Petr Denisov.
Petr was a physician and scientist whose career spanned emergency medicine, clinical research, scientific due diligence and biomedical venture capital. At Confidence, he served as Feasibility Manager and also contributed as a Medical Monitor, bringing an uncommon breadth of knowledge to every question placed before him.
Yet a list of roles and credentials can only tell part of his story.
Petr began his career as an emergency physician in St. Petersburg after earning his medical degree and later a PhD in physiology. In 2006, he moved into clinical research and joined Evidence Pharmaceutical Research, where he first worked with many of the colleagues who would later become part of Confidence. His career then took him through global feasibility leadership, business development and nearly a decade evaluating biotechnology programs and investment opportunities across drug development.
Years later, Petr returned to the same professional circle at Confidence. In a recent conversation, he recalled that when he left a previous role, a team member had told him they would work together again someday. “It happened,” he said. “She was right.” For those who knew the long history behind our team, his return felt like a full circle.
Petr valued the trust and continuity of a close-knit team. He believed that smaller teams could remain flexible, stay accountable and give every client genuine attention. He spoke warmly of the people he worked alongside and made clear that the chance to work with trusted colleagues again was one of the reasons Confidence felt right to him.
His work reflected a rare combination of scientific rigor, speed and practical judgment. Petr understood that feasibility was never simply a survey or a projection. It meant reading the protocol closely, understanding the treatment landscape, speaking with investigators, challenging assumptions and helping a development team shape a program whose goals could actually be achieved.
“This job does not assume you know everything,” he said, “but that you can find the right answer very quickly.”
His recent work also reflected his commitment to advancing clinical understanding, including a peer-reviewed publication with Dr. Katarina Nedman exploring comprehensive recovery after cesarean section and the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to maternal care.
Away from work, Petr spoke fondly of walking his small dog and traveling through Israel, where he had made his home. He enjoyed how quickly a short drive could lead to a place of beauty, history or surprise. He joked that a small dog is always a puppy. It was a glimpse of the warmth and dry humor his colleagues will remember.
We will remember his intelligence, honesty, humor and the depth of experience he shared so generously. His loss will be felt across Confidence and by the many colleagues, partners and friends whose work and lives he touched.
